Aging Well Today - The Lenore Cox Project
Support for the community through Health & Wellness
The Lenore Cox Project was formed in April, 2006, as a non-for profit 501(c) 3 organization located in DuPage County, Illinois dedicated to educating seniors about living well today. It was formed as a tribute to my mother Len
ore Cox who passed away on March 25th 2005. She would have been 90 years young on June 16th of 2005. In her last years she was riddled with pain associated with arthritis, and suffered from dementia. In her memory, we have created an opportunity for senior citizens to be educated as to the benefits of alternative medicine and complementary therapies. Although Lenore will not benefit from this opportunity, hopefully many others will.
Today's seniors need more affordable healthcare, help with housing, and education on the many afflictions that come with the aging process. The number of people over 65 will double in the next 20 years; more than 40 percent of us at some time in our life will need some form of long-term care. This is the dual reality within which nonprofit senior living and care professionals operate. At the same time, other providers are planning for new needs of future generations by developing innovative practices, advancing new technologies, and perhaps most importantly, responding to the desire of more seniors to remain at home, supported by services in their own community. The public, media and even some visionary politicians are taking note. Yet translating this heightened awareness to positive action is the bigger, more important challenge. A challenge that will require everyone regardless of age, health, or independence to reevaluate the value and purpose of aging in our society.
Innovation, affordability, inclusiveness and public education are all endeavors that reinvest in the creation of a better future for all ages. These are at the heart of our cause, and help distinguish our initiative from other organizations. Thank you for taking the time to learn about The Lenore Cox Project, and we look forward to your involvement in what we think is an outstanding community project!
